It's called 'caller id spoofing'. The people calling you can make any phone number show up on your caller id. They're making a number show up that charges you money if you call it and press a certain key.
At the same time they've disguised the messages on their pay by phone system as surveys. Those messages normally tell you what you're buying and how much it costs.
Check your bill for unwanted charges if you called this number back.
Recording saying they were taking a survey for the Democratic Party, should take 30 seconds and win a cruise for 2 to Bahamas. Three questions on a 1 to 5 scale re: national debt situation (1 re: Reps, 1 re: Dems, 1 re: Obama). Did answer, didn't press 1 to go through to travel consultant.
Just got a call from this number, no response when I answered. I called it back and got a recording about some survey being expired. Their message also indicates you can enter 2 if you don't want them to include you in future surveys but when I entered "2", it didn't appear that I had just entered "2", as it repeated the same recording. Only in America!!
