As so many others I received a call from this number threatening me with legal action for unpaid taxes if I didn't reply immediately. This is not a new scam. With the governments ability to trace and track every call its curious why they haven't taken action long before.
Scam caller claimed to be "Officer Judy Smith" from the US Department of Treasury to discuss a matter of tax fraud. Directed me to call back before the case goes to federal claims court or else I'd get arrested. This is clearly a scam: 1) Tax issues would be handled by IRS, not Treasury Dept. 2) IRS would have you phone them, not the other way around. If anything, IRS would contact you via official mailings, not by phone. 3) https://www.irs.gov/uac/IRS-Urges-Public-to-Stay-Alert-for-Scam-Phone-Calls . Go to IRS.gov and read up on their phone scam warnings.
I just a call from this #. When I listened to VM, it stated they were US treasury, regarding tax fraud and I needed to call back b4 case went to federal claims court or I was arrested. I call back and get...no longer in service message. I really wanted to give them a piece of my mind bc this is clearly a scam.
