Sounds like that scam I R S call. I get them almost daily. They also said I had a warrant. From what I understand they ask for credit card #'s, etc. The next one I get, I will heartily blow my traffic whistle into the phone. Hopefully it will break their eardrums.
Just called my home landline saying they were with WinMac Solutions and hired by Microsoft to fix my computer problem. Said my computer is sending bad signals and if I don't let them fix it, my computer will stop working. They asked me to turn my computer on to give them information. The guy was very smooth and quick. He was really good at responding yo my drilling questions. Someone with little computer knowledge might believe him and give him access to confidential data. Of course it's a scam! Call came from Los Angeles. I did a web search for WinMac Solutions and found they are in Delaware. WinMac Solutions also have a VERY BAD Better Business Rating.
I just a called from this number telling that my computer is running at high risk. I told them no it's not that I have Norton and all is well. He told that they were Norton and flat out told him he was not that this is a scam and hung up on him. I know that Norton and no other computer software company, etc would call and tell you there is something wrong with your computer..
Jenny, No police department, including the FBI, are going to call you and tell you they have a warrant for your arrest. They will be knocking on your door. Same with summons, unless it one to tell you you have been picked to serve on a jury. The first give away to these unworkable jerks is they can't speak English.
The problem in calling the police, FBI or any other department is that the calls, 99.9% are coming from another country and the FBI and other federal law enforcement can't do anything about those calls. If you call the FBI or other departments they will tell you they can't do anything about those type of calls. Either block them, don't answer them or if you do answer, just hang up.
Do like I do. If I do answer the call the first thing I say is....THIS CALL IS BEING RECORDED, IF YOU DON'T WANT THIS CALL TO BE RECORDED HANG UP NOW. 100% of the time I only get as far as telling them this call is being recorded, then they hang up.
