I received a call from this number yesterday. Called claimed to be with GE Alarm Services wanting to talk to me about a security sytem at a considerable discount if I put a sign in my yard. DUH. I said I have an ELABORATE security system and I wasn't interested in anything they had to offer, then hung up. Apparently my gut instinct was right and this is a scam deal that was operating under a debt collection pretense and now as if selling security systems. I really hope people aren't giving out their personal info over the phone.
This is a scam. A guy called me from this number tonight, friendly voice, said he was calling from GE Home Security Group and wanted to offer me a discount on a home security system if I put a sign for the company in my yard. I had the same long delays on the phone line that other posters have described. I was immediately suspicious because I am not a homeowner and my number is on the Do Not Call list. I never get telemarketers. When I asked how he had gotten my number, he said "from our online partners." Which online partner? "I'm sorry I'm in training I don't know." He offered me a number for their customer service department, which I took down (866-290-1970 - doesn't work). Then I asked him to repeat the name of the company. He said, "Home security group." I said, didn't you say it was a division of a larger company? He said no, it was just Home security group, although I remember at the start of the call he said GE. Then I asked him to repeat the offer. He hung up. This is a complete scam.
Yeah they have a machine hooked up to their phone most likely and it will charge you extra. or they have their number registered as "premium" and it charges you extra on your phone bill except it goes to them. its a complete scam.
I just got a call from this number on my cell. He said he was Kevin with Home Security Solutions and wanted to know if I wanted a free home alarm system just for putting a sign in my yard. i told him no thanks, I already have one and hung up. Not sure what his goal is...
