I was called from this number and told i was being sued or something to that effect. They had all my information, address, social, etc...
THey said they were from CarlSmithBall lawyers office. The man spoke with a heavy accent, and would not cooporate with me. I am in the Military and we can't take out Payday loans. When I told him this he started backtracking a little, but said that I had until 4 or I would have charges brought against me in Los Angeles County. Has anyone else had this problem, its rather frustrating and a little scary that someone has all my information. I am not sure what to do...
I called Carl Smith Ball, and was told to call another number, the receptionist would not comment but said she might know about it.
I am the Administrator for the REAL Carlsmith Ball office in Los Angeles. Any calls you are receiving from persons with heavy Indian accents saying they are associated with Carlsmith Ball are FRAUDULENT calls. These persons are NOT associated with our offices nor are they attorneys. We have been reporting these calls to both the LAPD as well as the Secret Service since August 2009. Secret Service has asked me to advise people who are receiving these calls to do the following:
1. Make an identity theft report with your local police department.
2. Notify the 3 credit bureaus of your identity theft.
3. Close and change your bank accounts as these scammers have all of your personal information which was obtained illegally.
DO NOT send these guys any money. You do not owe any money to them. Feel free to tell them go to hell.

I was also called by a guy name Lance Morris with the same accent who claim to be calling me for the same reasons. I told them I have never had a payday loan. The guy got very rude with me when I started asking him pertinent questions and preceded to hang up. This would make the fifth call within a four month difference. Someone really need to get these people off the street. I am also angry that they had my information but immediately notified the crediters as well as put a fraud alert on my credit.
I have had these phone call at my job by a guy name Lance Morris and with a accent. He told me about a payday loan, and I have never had a payday loan. He will call my job four to five times, I would like to find a way to get in touch with this person to due a law suit against him. I have already put a fraud alert on my credit.
One of my staff received a call from this number and said the man (did not have an indian accent but it was a weird accent) was a police officer named John Ryan and that my staff had 3 criminal cases and if she did not contact him before 2pm TODAY, she would have to see a judge. I told her about what I found online and told her NOT to give him any money. I will write a follow up after she calls me back to let me know how the conversation with him went!
