Same thing happened here tonight! My husband contacted a lawyer who sent him to the fraud department. He was told the IRS will very rarely contact you by phone! When I googled the number and came up with the above post, I breathed a sigh of relief! I reported the incident to the IRS number listed above!
I received a call yesterday, Left message from Steve Martin about enforcement actions by US Treasury. Left call back number 213-401-2952.
IMMEDIATELY I REALIZED THIS IS SCAM
THE MESSAGE START I INTENDED TO CONTACT YOU ? HE DID NOT MENTION A NAME, WHO IS YOU?
IMMEDIATELY I GOOGLE THE NUMBER,
Thank to this Web site, surely it was SCAM.
I WILL report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.t
thank you all for sharing
Received a call from 213-401-2952, this guy had such a heavy foreign accent that it was very difficult to understand him. He said his name was Steve Martin (I'm sure) from the IRS and then said something about owing taxes. When I told him to have his supervisor call me, he yelled something then hung up.
Make sure you have your passport ready since you will need to fly to a country overseas. Of course once there if you are caught you are then subject to their laws. As to threatening them, they know it is a hollow threat and they have heard it all.
A SCAM!!!!!! Told me there's an arrest warrant for me from the US Treasury in my name for unpaid taxes. When I told him that I am current on the taxes, he yelled at me and said no I didn't. When I told him I receive a refund every year, thanks to my 4 young deductions, he immediately hung up on me. I assume he wanted me to agree to pay them now and get my info.
