These people really get upset with me when I tell them I'm on the do not call list. It's a federal offense for them to call me period. I had a number like this one try and tell me that I owed the government like 800 and they were taking me to court if I didn't pay. When I explained that I didn't et court papers in the mail and I was calling the cops, they got upset saying that I wasn't allowed to call the cops on them. After they finally hung up, I did call the cops and gave them all the information. The best thing to do with these scams is to call the cops. If enough people call them about it, they will file a report and shut them down.
got two calls from this number - no one would answer the phone - and they didn't leave a message. Googled the number - it's from CA and it's a telemarketing number using words, comments such as "you have been approved for a government grant." "you are currently good on your taxes - stuff. This is a telemarketing scam effort to get your personal identifiable information - to get your social security number, banking information, etc. DO NOT TALK WITH ANYONE FROM THIS NUMBER - IT IS A TOTAL SCAM - BLOCK THEM OR PUT ON YOUR CALLER ID, "SCAM TELEMARKETING DO NOT ANSWER."
Once again, I have been receiving calls from this number. Knowing it was a scam, I decided to answer. I received the call on January 28th, 2014 2:28pm.
The caller (with a think foreign accent) asked for me by name. I asked him who was calling. It was something along the lines of being a federal program that randomly selected me for a grant. (I actually couldn't understand the amount he stated.)
I said to him, "You know, the government doesn't just give away money like that."
Then he said, and I quote... "[***] you, [***] bull [***]." Then he disconnected.
