Appears to be a scumbag telemarketer who illegally violates the Federal and State Do Not Call List. Calling the number back goes to a recording that says all of their representatives are busy and you can hit a number to be placed on their no call list, which seems to indicate they don't subscribe to the list that is required by law. Don't answer the phone if these criminals call.
They claim they are with the police coalition. Wanting donations. They may be, I don't know yet. I told them to mail me something before I donate, so we will wait and see.
John, in my experience police, firemen, Red Cross, Salvation Army and the like have a distinctive and properly named caller ID. Also and more importantly these organizations solicit exclusively in their geographic area ONLY. It's easy to ascertain an '800' type number where they are calling from. I wouldn't answer that number until that is determined and then return the call if you wish. Or wait till they call you back.
Again they have an identifiable caller ID BUT I WOULD AUTHENTICATE IT FIRST.
I wasn't home when the call came in and no one clicked in to left a message. If they can't take 6 seconds to leave a short message, to me they are scammers who want to talk to a real person and not a machine. Never going to happen since I have a call blocker and this person didn't punch in to get permission to call me. Also, the CID shows a letter with a bunch of numbers after it and that I've been told by a policeman that it is more than likely a scammer. These people don't want you to know who they are by putting this letter and numbers as the CID. This number isn't on my list of people who can call me either so plain and simple they will be permanently blocked.
