Here's the answer to all our prayers. I found this on a site I posted a telemarketer's number at. I tried it and it WORKS! I put the tones at the beginning of my phone greeting about three months ago and in the last three weeks have had "ZERO" calls. Whover posted that "THANK YOU, THANKI YOU". Here's what I found:
Telemarketers almost exclusively use autodialers to make their calls. One out of a thousand will have live reps doing the dialing. When these dialers connect (you answer the phone) they first listen for any tones generated. If no tones are detected they then transfer the call to one of the reps in a call center. If the autodialer hears the 3 beeps from dialing a "DISCONNECTED" number, the number that was just dialed is automatically "REMOVED" from their list. Below is a link that has this tone plus the verbal message. You DO NOT need the verbal message. Download or copy the "DISCONNECTED" MP3 or WAV file to your desktop. Create or change the greeting you have when someone calls you and you're not available. At the VERY BEGINNING of your message place the 3 tones (NOT THE VOICE MESSAGE) then continue with your usual or normal greeting. The autodialer will hear the tones and BINGO, your number will be removed since they think it's a disconnected number. DONE. In a few weeks you will be removed from all or most of the lists. Of course you may have to explain the tones to the callers you DO want to speak to but that's a small tradeoff. Pass this info on to anyone you know that gets junk calls or even help post this on these websites. If you continue getting calls after reading this, it's your "OWN" fault! END JUNK CALLS.
I got this # on my cell phone today (214-540-2035). The calls started last week sometime. I don't answer #'s that are not programmed into my cell. If it is important the caller will leave a message and I will return their call once I've heard their voice message. So, today I looked this # up and found all these comments. Crazy thing is, I don't have an auto loan with any of the financial companies mentioned in the previous comments. I will not answer any future phone calls and I will take action to adding the #'s mentioned in the above comments to my reject list. Hopefully, the calls will stop. This company was completely rude to my husband. I had no idea that Citifinancial had been bought out by this "Santander" group as I am never late on my payments so I have no real reason to get a call by this company, but they called my husbands phone like 5 times in one day (today) and they refused to give him even the slightest idea who they were or why they were calling.
My payment was 5 days late because I have been trying RELENTLESSLY for 5 days to pay my damn car off 6 months ahead of schedule (yeah, go me!!) and you cannot get any one person on the damn phone to request a pay off. How messed up is that?? So I finally just paid the amount using the automated phone messaging system, hoping that I don't get screwed!
These numbers started calling me about a week ago. Sometimes more than once a day. I just googled one of the numbers and got this forum. I do NOT have an account with this company or any of its affiliates. Since they are calling my cell phone, I don't answer it and they never leave a message. Since I don't have an account with them they do not have the right to continue to call me. So, my next steps are to answer the phone to see what they say and to tell them they have the wrong number. If they call again, I will go to my police station to file an harrassement complaint and I will let them know this will be my course of action. We DO have rights. For all of you that do owe to this company, sorry they are functioning within the law. You must send them a certified letter telling them not to contact you by phone. If they do so after that, then you have legal rights.
