Here's the answer to all our prayers. I found this on a site I posted a telemarketer's number at. I tried it and it WORKS! I put the tones at the beginning of my phone greeting about three months ago and in the last three weeks have had "ZERO" calls. Whover posted that "THANK YOU, THANKI YOU". Here's what I found:
Telemarketers almost exclusively use autodialers to make their calls. One out of a thousand will have live reps doing the dialing. When these dialers connect (you answer the phone) they first listen for any tones generated. If no tones are detected they then transfer the call to one of the reps in a call center. If the autodialer hears the 3 beeps from dialing a "DISCONNECTED" number, the number that was just dialed is automatically "REMOVED" from their list. Below is a link that has this tone plus the verbal message. You DO NOT need the verbal message. Download or copy the "DISCONNECTED" MP3 or WAV file to your desktop. Create or change the greeting you have when someone calls you and you're not available. At the VERY BEGINNING of your message place the 3 tones (NOT THE VOICE MESSAGE) then continue with your usual or normal greeting. The autodialer will hear the tones and BINGO, your number will be removed since they think it's a disconnected number. DONE. In a few weeks you will be removed from all or most of the lists. Of course you may have to explain the tones to the callers you DO want to speak to but that's a small tradeoff. Pass this info on to anyone you know that gets junk calls or even help post this on these websites. If you continue getting calls after reading this, it's your "OWN" fault! END JUNK CALLS.
The do not call list does not apply to creditors who are trying to collect a debt. They do have to follow guidelines as to when they call and what they say, but that is not because of the do not call list. They don't even have to make sure they are calling the right person. They can call anyone they want when collecting a debt.
These guys call my mother/sister and my work number about twice a month...different american names they use but all must be in India, they can not speak English hardly at all. They stole my info or where sold it from some payday loan place years ago. I OWE nothing to a payday loan and have turned them in over and over and over to the FBI and Feds! They are on the awarning list by the BBB under a state by state alret! Give them no monies or more info about your selfs! This is a scam... by law they need to mail you a statement of any bills owed (but that is US postal fraud )! So you will never see that in the mail! Stupid scam... I wish these FELONS would get an honest job! Have no time for them!
I've gotten calls from these people for seven days in a row, I work nights and these calls start at eight in the morning so it's a pain not to be able to get a restfull sleep!!!!!!!! I need to keep my phone on for my work to beable to contact me so I plan to block them you should do the same!
First let me say I do not have a loan with these people, my daughter does. They have called my relatives (some of whom I do not see but once a year) and said my daughter left their name and number as reference (lie), they call me at my office and say she worked there (lie), they call my home SEVERAL TIMES. They call people with land lines constantly. They lie and I can not understand how they can do this legally. I will find a way to stop it I was mad before I read these posts now I am just pissed off.
Get a google Voice Account its free! You can get a "new" phone number that screens your calls. Theres also a blocking feature, when you block a number they receive the 3 tone "number disconnected message" LOL. I routed my business line through this number so I could avoid collection and sales calls. You can block any number very easily you can also listen in on messages as they are being recorded and if you want to jump in and talk just press a button. Its fully integrated into your cell phone and its free. Also an Iphone app (free) for this as well.
