Called at dinner time. "Eric" with a thick accent, said something about wanting to help me with my computer problem since I was a microsoft user. I asked what the he** that had to do with the price of tea in China to which he replied "you're in China?" Conversation got worse from there. I told him I thought he was scamming my a** off to which he replied he was "not F***ing my a** off". I called him an idiot and hung up. He called back, talking rapidly. I talked over him as he called me a sl**. Told him I was turning him over to the Federal Do Not Call List as a violator.
Had conversation with National Internet Crime Agency who caused great worry and then Subsequently Microsoft to check out my nearly expired support contract as advised by the former. Told that both the U.S Contracting Company and the Subcontracted Technical Support Company were both Scammers:- because they charge too much - and lots of complaints?
I've had around 6 lots of remote cleaning out of viruses and annoying spying ad-ware with constant pop ups usually brought in by browser auto updates.
Microsoft 6 x £65 = £390 v contract cost £211 for 3 PC's for a year.(Almost Insurance policy based contract like a used car add on after purchase policy) Couldn't fault service and no security issues. You can always disconnect remote access if something seems dodgy using top right disconnect X close/end session button.
They nearly always call at their expense whilst fixing PC and calls are passed to supervisor to ensure satisfaction on completion. Always advise that they never phone you - you contact them in on-line email form accessed from a desktop link or multi country freefone number to activate unlimited support requests. They fixed complicated networking issue which I couldn't solve and configured network printer. Always terminating call with advice to inform them immediately if anyone phoned proporting to be either from them or from Microsoft.
They used the exact same remote access software/service as Microsoft and appeared to use all industry standard procedures (as I would probably employ too) and recommend the same security software Microsoft do.
Seem to keep on with issue until resolved even if 4 or 5 hours for every problem you reported, without tea or meal breaks.
Always too, a very brief feedback email a few days or hours later to ensure everything still OK with about 3 tick boxes. Any issues triggers relatively quick response.
Personally very satisfied - but maybe I had special treatment because I had expert IT fix it tools in a folder easily seen. Alternatively perhaps everyone but Microsoft is a rogue?
I know I'd never buy a PC from a number of the High Street and Industrial Shopping Estate retailers who are used to sell on outdated technology to the unknowledgeable and unsuspecting public which the bought in at discounted prices due to being mainly Manufacturer discontinued line basic machines,
Buy made to your specification from such as Dell and be careful and only install any free software as advanced and carefully review and decline sponsor installs offered first or which would be installed automatically if you chose the "recommended" or easy set up and installations. Most of these sponsored or advised software offerings come with included "Spy" or "Ad-ware" reporting shopping habits or items you're browsing to purchase. You'll probably be plagued with "competitive" or "alternative" purchase offerings.
Most leads are gathered from free on-line "live" problem finding and reporting programs from Pop-up adverts embedded in websites you visit and trust.
Difficult to decide the most safe and best value for money in real terms.
