Got a call on my cell from this number, I didn't answer. They left no message. I've been getting spam calls twice a day for a while now from numbers all over the country, I'm assuming this is just another one.

I get around 6 calls a day from different numbers all claiming to be my " local gooogle representative" Google says they never call and do not have local representatives.
SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! I never answer unrecognized calls, but I did pick up on one of these from "Assist" a couple of days ago, only because it came from an area code I recognized as being correct for an elderly friend. Upon hearing the word "Google" I was gone and another # was blocked. These scammers are not stupid, and they have machines that compromise your caller ID programs to see them as many different #s from many different places.
I have a call blocker that handles 1200 blocks. That should fall on the side of ridiculous, but I fear it is not even enough. It works fine, and can even block entire area codes, which is why the calls come from ever-differing areas. I too heard the "local Google" thing on the one I did pick up. Since the call supposedly came from Maryland and I am in Georgia, just what is "local' about that?
I continue to block, and I would advise everyone to do the same. If you don't know the number or caller, don't pick up that phone. All that does is tell those invasive idiots that your phone number is live. They don't care who lives there; all they want is a live line. When you answer one of those calls, you just verified your phone and the calls will likely increase. It's sad that our Government can't do anything about this increasing problem, and even sadder that they don't care.
