I also received a call from someone claiming to be from the office of Alex Rojas. They were incredibly persistent, and implied all sorts of terrible things were going to happen to me if I didn't give them all sorts of personal information, and ultimately tried to get me to make arrangements to make a large payment right then and there over the phone. I suspect they work on commission, and whoever it was was doing a very, very good job of worrying me about the situation, also claiming legal action was going to be taken against me. I was on the phone with them for almost an hour, and the longer I refused to provide financial information the more intimidating they tried to get.
This was over two weeks ago, and I still have not received any kind of legal notice. Additionally, I recently made a payment on the account they were calling about, so it obviously hasn't been sold off to a collector.
The best course of action if contacted by these characters is most likely to simply hang up. Whoever I talked with sounded like he was very good at what he does - intimidating people into paying - so the less time spent on the phone with them, the better.
ACTUALLY YOUR WRONG ALEX WAS HANDLING YOUR ACCT AT THAT TIME HE WAS WORKING HOME DEPOT ACCOUNTS AND THEY ACTUALLY WHERE PRIME ACCOUNTS SO HOME DEPOT WAS STILL SENDING OUT LETTERS AT THE SAME TIME ALLIANCE ONE WAS HANDLING THE ACCOUNTS ,,,,,, MOST OF THESE STORIES ON HERE ARE FALSE THEY ARE WRITTEN BY EITHER DEBT SETTLEMENT COMPANIES WHO LOST BUSINESS BECAUSE THEY WERE TOLD THE TRUTH ABOUT THEIR SCAM PRACTICES ..( TAKING MONEY FROM DEBTORS FOR THINGS THAT DEBTORS COULD DO ON THEIR OWN ,, TAKING ADVATAGE OF DEBTORS THAT HAVE NO KNOWLEGE ABOUT THE CREDIT INDUSTRY) OR BY OTHER COLLECTION AGENCIES IN COMPETION WITH ALLAINCE ONE..... OR EVEN BY REAL DEBTORS WHO JUST CANT PAY THEIR BILLS AND ARE TRYING TO ABUSE THE FDCPA TO MAKE SOME EXTRA CASH BNY FILING FALSE LAWSUITS TO MAKE MONEY !!!!!! PEOPLE BEWARE GOD SEES ALL !!! AND IS AWARE OF ALL THAT WE DO ... KARMA IS REAL !!! THE TRUTH WILL PREVAIL IN THE END .... GOD BLESS ......
Alliance One is a junk debt buyer and a real joke. They will do anything and everything in the book to get you to pay the full amount on debts they purchased for pennies on the dollar. They will threaten legal action which (they are not lawyers so this is a violation of the Fair Debt act)and have no intentions on filing. They will try to get you to take out a loan to pay them off. Send them a validation letter, keep of log of call and save all messages they leave, never give them any personal information or banking information and make sure all dealings are in writing. Otherwise you are just asking for them to rip you off.
