In answer to anoymous, I have wised up to that fact. They call twice in succession to see if someone will pick up on the second call. We have a business greeting on answer machine and they won't leave a message. Caller id says "unknown name." So now I don't even pick up on our local area code. If someone really wants info about our bompany's offerings they'll leave a message. These people are really sneaky aren't they?! Thanks for all the posts on this number.
I received a call this morning from this number. Appeared to be a collection agency. Demanded payment for a past long distance phone bill from over 5 years ago. He had my name, but the location of my "former" address and "previous" phone number was incorrect. He asked to confirm the last 4 digits of my SS# and he was again incorrect. He hung up abruptly. I called back and was treated discourteously by another guy that also hung up abruptly.
This # called me, left a message but couldn't make out what half of the single word was, and they hung up. I did not call back. If it is that important, they will leave a whole message instead of just one word.
