i get calls from this number several times a day. also when i answer or anyone else answers no one is there. no message is ever left on machine either when the answering machine picks up. it is becomming annoying going on for several weeks now.
Caller said was from Save The Children. Started by saying STC was NOT calling to ask for a donation, but instead wanted to 1) thank us for donating over the years, and 2) asking if we would be willing to send media out to family and friends, and that STC would supply everything. Told her no and directed her to remove our number from their call list. She said she would, thanked me again for donations, and hung up.
None of that would be so bad if the caller ID said it was from STC, which it does not (just says Cleveland OH), and if they hadn't been calling 3-4 times a day for the past week. If legitimate, I don't understand what all the mystery is about.
Very similar to everybody else. Was from Save The Children fund, was thanked for previous donations and was asked to stuff envelopes - said yes, and that I should receive a package in 3 - 4 weeks. But they are still calling. Will see if anything actually comes in.
Calls over and over, no one on the line. I assume they are using predictive dialing and if I waited long enough (I wait three or four “hellos?” waiting for an answer between each) someone would eventually come on line. I called the number back and was given a chance to opt out (automated). They say it takes up to thirty days to process the request and apologize for continuing to call during that time.We are donors to this organization and I believe their non-profit status and our existing connection (donor) makes these calls legit, even though we're registered on the do not call list. After several days or maybe two weeks of continued calls after opting out, we are no longer getting calls. I recommend anyone wishing to stop these calls use the automated opt-out process. Other than that, predictive dialers should be outlawed, or at least be required to at least have a recording, if not live person, announce who's calling within 2 seconds of line being answered.
