This is a follow-up from last night.  Today we filed complaints with the Florida BBB,which is:
http://app1.800helpfla.com/cswebcomplaints/FileComplaint.aspx
Our State's Attorney General's Office, the Nat'l Consumers League Fraud Center, which is:
http://www.fraud.org/
Florida Division of Consumer Services--which is:
www.800helpfla.com
and the Federal Trade Commission--which is:
https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
This afternoon I got a phone call back from the Nat'l Consumers Fraud Center which said these people are using intimidation and scare tactics to try to get money out of you.  If they do get money from you, they will continue to try by turning their story the next time they call in a month or two!  Monitor your credit history, and as long as you didn't give them your Social Security number, you should be safe from identity theft.  Hang up on them if they call again or stick to your guns and tell them you know your rights!  Only everyone complaining to especially the Fed. Trade Commission will stop them! So start sending complaints--WE DID!

Recieved a call yesterday evening from the same people.  We had also received several calls from them several months ago demanding the same thing.  Funny how they didn't turn it over to a collections agency back then.  I sent an email to the AZ attorney general's office and called the Ohio attorney general's office.  Essentially, not much can be done until you are an actual victim.  The woman I spoke to at the Ohio office gave me some great advice.

1.  Ask them to mail you a written statement regarding the details of the supposed transaction, as well as a copy of the original contract.  According to her, they only have 5 days to respond.

2.  Ask for an address to send a registered certified letter to them, stating that you dispute their claim and do not owe them any money.

3.  If you don't recieve the detailed statement in step 1 within a week, and they still call you, then you can file a complaint with the attorney general's office.

I'm not sure if the above steps are true for states other than Ohio, but since the call number originated there, thats who I called.

So has anyone actually seen any kind of credit hit or collections letters from these guys?

I got the phone call on 11/17/08.  I was scared and didn't look up the information before hand and gave them my credit card number.  I couldn't sleep that night.  All I could think of was fraud!!!  I cancelled my card the next morning but the charge had already come through.  My credit card company did a merchant dispute and reversed the charges.  They (First class travel wise) have called multiple times daily since.  Now I just got another call stating they are going to sue me.  I am scared half to death.  I just lost my job 3 weeks ago due to the economy.  I can't afford to be sued too.  Anyone know what to do next?  They have called from 315-307-3523 & 954-603-7950 & 216-759-4482.  Oh the best part of which is they claim my vacation was 4 years ago and I didn't do the back part of listening to another timeshare spill.  Well my "vacation" nasty San Remo Hotel in Vegas now Hooters was ummm...  6 years ago!  It took how long for them to catch up?  All for $433.

I received the same kind of call today.   Lots of noise in the background (yep, I'd call it a boiler room).  The worst part is they had a lot of personal information from the trip which I REALLY don't like.   They said I had agreed to a timeshare tour to get the hotel rate.  NOT true as I remember things back 4+ years ago.  Of course they were "helping" me by not turning it in to their lawyers if I would agreee to pay the $400+ right then.  Needless to say I did not, and do not intend to since I have located all the notes from the original reservation which say NOTHING about a tour.

If I get another call from them or a credit ding I will be contacting the legal department for my company as it was a business related trip.  Regardless, I will be reporting the incident to the Attorney Generals offices for my state, the state where the call came from and the state I had visited on the trip.

Yes, I AM MAD and going to do what I can to report this insanity.
