My office receives several calls per week from 217-481-8314. The Caller ID reads "GET CASH NOW" but there is never anyone on the other end of the line after I answer/introduce myself.
Calls about 4 times a week. We answer and a voice recording says "is the owner around?" And weather you say yes, no or nothing at all they hang up. Try calling back and get a busy time or nothing at all. My house is a residence not a business.
Called at 3:30pm Los Angeles time. We have the entire 217 area code blocked and our phones did not ring.
It's wise to NEVER call these criminals back. If you do, you have verified that you have a working, live telephone line and it is likely that your number will be sold to other criminals or used at a later date.
Have called twice today. CID says "Finance Options," which tells me all I need to know: they're spoofing the number and the name, and are most likely criminals. What @jetames says is correct: DO NOT call them back or try to engage their computer/meat-puppet in any way. All you accomplish is letting them know they've got a live number.
