I got a call today from this number and it was from Illinois.
Since you worked in the industry, tell me why they would send a letter with coupons for payment with a due date and then call to harrass well before that date is reached?
I just called the number back. 224-788-2006. I was answered and they stated National Credit Bureau. I explained I was getting calls on my cellphone and that I am not the deadbeat they are looking for. He very politely informed me that pressing #2 would (NOT) remove my number but he would. He typed as I told him my number, and he said it was removed. We'll see. He was very courteous. Give them a call, stay calm, and see what happens.
we screen our calls and after receiving several from this number every day, I called the number and got a debt collector. i could barely hear the woman but was able to get who she was calling for and why....I must agree with me! that it is a scam, the volume of the call and the fact that they were asking for someone with the same first name and similar last....what are the odds of that happening? my last name is commonly pronounced incorrectly so I asked for the spelling and it wasn't even close. told them no one here by that name and that i do not know the person, they are supposed to remove my number from their list....we shall see
