I got a call from this number on my cell phone this afternoon, and I ignored it. I'm not surprised to see that it has been reported as a problem caller.
The link appears to be legit, backed by Consumer Reports magazine. However, the best defense I offer as advise is to simply use your cordless phone's automated voicemail greeter to answer ALL unknown and/or long distance calls shown on Caller ID; legit callers WILL leave a call back message, whereas scammers simply hang up.
Eventually, the scammer---after wasting enough of THEIR money trying to find a "mark"---will give up.
NEVER call back a strange call that hung up on you; doing so may possibly have you calling some OVERSEAS phone number---that could lead to a very expensive phone bill.
If you answer such strange calls, you get "marked" by a robo call program and added to a HUGE list of other potential "marks" in a "hot sheet", that gets sold for thousand$ from one scammer group, to another.
Let your cordless phone's automated voice mail service handle unknown / unfamiliar numbers that get shown on your Caller ID; if they legit---they will leave a call back number.
Probing call running a few times hung up before going to voicemail rang one time hung up and rang two times clearly sending me a message. And I have a message for them as well...
