Called our home phone twice this evening. The most recent call was a few minutes ago at 6:00pm and first call was about 15 minutes before that. Didn't answer, since we usually don't answer calls from numbers (or mainly area codes) that we don't recognize. Sounds like it would have been the same Indian guy called about a messed up windows computer. Good thing we only have Apple computers here, anyways.
The gentleman who called asked about my computer. When I told him, what exactly did he want, he repeated, "it's about your computer". I told him I was just leaving the house, and please state what he wanted. He than said, "why are you leaving the house so late?" I further explained that it was "none of his business". He again, kept harassing me about leaving the house and told me it was his business. I explained to him what did he want regarding my computer. He just kept asking , "why was I leaving so late?" I just about had enough of the conversation, and told him I was hanging up, and than I hung up.
Called my Time Warner home phone @ 7:34pm (during dinner). In broken English stated she was calling about my computer. Specifically the computer operating on "the windows OS".
Shut her down when I told her we don't have a computer with windows and that all of our computers are apple products. She then proceeded to hang up on me.
Yay!!!
They called my 78 year old mother telling her they needed to make sure she didn't lose windows 7. We had to tell her it was a scam. She has windows xp.. Luckily she is blind so she couldn't do what they wanted her to do. She told us we would have to talk to them for her. They are trying to scam elderly people who don't know any better. The person is not an American.. Said they had an Indian accent.
Just called my personal cell phone and also called earlier while I was at work. Identified as a Georgia call. I answered the call at work and an Indian guy tried to tell me my computer's hard drive could be damaged. Kept right on talking even after I told him I repaired and troubleshooted computers as part of my job and didn't need his help.
