These people have called me numerous times claiming to be the IRS and that we owe back taxes. Firstly, the IRS never calls you on your phone and especially not your mobile phone. They always have an accent, sometimes Indian (from India) or Pakistani, or Russian/Slavic.
They used one of our family members' names and they know our last name. We always use accountants to file our income tax reports, and I know they are all done according to law. Our accountant does IRS Audits and is completely honest. Don't give these people the time of day.
I received a call from 234-542-4681 a few minutes ago; I know no one in Akron, Ohio so I knew it had to some slimy scam idiot; usually just don't bother to answer if I'm around when these calls come in but they caught me in a 'playful' mood so I answered with silence and was rewarded with a prerecorded message that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me. This has been the 3rd such call I've received so I decided to block the number, then retaliate...I called the number back, some creep with an accent answered, saying they were Officer 'whatever' with the IRS (wow, I thought the IRS had agents, not officers but I suppose they thought Officer' would sound more official with their thick foreign accent...)...anyway, I started blowing my handy little whistle into the speaker until they finally disconnected the call...THEN I did the same thing another 4-5 times just for my own amusement. They never got to say a word and finally disconnected each time...yeah, I know, now I'm on their radar as a 'live' number but it seems that I am already on their list so might as well have some fun with it and maybe even blow out an eardrum or two in the process. So my work here is done (with this particular spoofed number) and I patiently await the next Swamp-Dweller Slime call, whistle in hand.
