I get the same number(s) calling me 20-30 times a day on my Verizon phone. Never happened when I was with AT&T, so I can't help but wonder if Verizon is "selling" our information to scammers.
Finally answered one and he said I had an outstanding student loan (didn't even have my real name), and I told him I wasn't the person he was looking for. He said, well then give me your name and social security number so I can mark the other man off.
Well I was born at night, but it wasn't last night, so I told him I didn't know him from Jack and he wasn't getting any of my information. I promptly hung up. That was a few weeks ago and now I'm getting dozens x2 phone calls a day.
It's not Indian dialect, more like middle eastern. So be careful and watch you cell phone bills. If you have unlimited everything, ask for a detailed bill, and don't be surprised if somone other than you are burning minutes.
I read of a scam like this once, and if they can keep you on line for a minute (I believe it was a minute), then they can gather all the information they need to use your phone as a burner phone to re-route their nefarious deals so they can plan attacks without being traced back to them. Best bet. Don't even answer the phone. I don't anymore.
