Caller Id showed Comcast so I answered. I could not understand a man that was talking really fast saying something about an Energy check of my home. Said we might qualify. I was believing him, at first, and asked what we had to do. He still was not clear. He asked if we were working or retired. That's when I got suspicious .I told him he should know that since he knew my husband's name and our address. I did not give out any personal info. Then I hung up. I realized after checking the number that it was not a Comcast #. so I called the number and it had been disconnected. Then I called Comcast and reported it to their security. They told me It is a scam and not Comcast. I blocked the number. Sorry low-life people.
I answered the call, only because the number has been appearing on my caller id for months now. He told me he could save me lots of $ on my energy bill. So I asked him how and that's when he started asking me about my energy bill... I didn't answer and asked him again how he could save me money on my energy bill and that's when he started calling me names.... All I can say is, if I find you, you will be reported to the authorities...
Caller ID said "COMCAST". However it is not Comcast but is instead the Green Energy scammer. If I recall correctly this scammer was busted by the state AG a few years ago, but apparently lacking any significant job skills or imagination has gone back to the exact same scam as before.
Caller ID said Comcast. Location is Naples, Florida, now blocked. I have nothing to do with Comcast or Naples. I used to get many telemarketing/scam calls. My phone is via cable and I use a Panasonic telephone that has a setting to disable the first ring. My computer does not have a voice modem, so I purchased one for $10. The software I use is called Phonetray Free and works great. After the first call, a number is blocked and then no more calls. Each call is in a log and I can check all calls. The software also allows blocking of entire AREA CODES (like New York area, Miami, California, etc.). Only spoofed numbers can pass but since most spoofers are not too bright, they use the same number therefore no problem. My call volume has dropped by 99%. Phonetray Free has been replaced by Phonetray Pro from Softonic ($30). I have no personal stake in any of this.
