This morning I received a call from this number with a caller ID of R Smith.  My son is talking to a college coach with the last name Smith, so I answered the call.  It was the wonderful recording that my car's warranty was going to expire.   I get four to five of these calls a day, sometimes the same number, sometimes different numbers.  In the last 3 months I have also been receiving these calls on my cell phone.

Today when I answered the call, instead of hanging up I pressed 1 to speak to their representative.  When the man answered I immediately asked him the name of the company -- Extended Warranty Services.  I had the computer up, so I went to Yellow Pages and typed in the name.  Nothing came up.  I told him he did not work for a legal company.  He argued saying that he worked for all of the national and international auto companies.  I argued that the company was a sham and wasn't a legal company.  He began listing the names of every car company in the world saying that I must be stupid if I hadn't heard of those companies.  Yes, we argued about the non-legitimate nature of his company.  I told him that he and his company were crooks and that I was tired of getting three and four calls a day from them.  He became very angry with me and said that he would make sure that I got seven or eight calls a day from them now on.

I am so tired of being a hostage to their incoming calls, both at home and on my cell.  A lot of good it does to be on the do not call list.

I did a reverse look-up for this number and it shows that it belongs to another individual with a different last name in California.  I called the number back and got the same foreign voice recording that immediately recognized my number and told me to push one if I wanted the number deleted.  Yeah, right.  I'm sure it was deleted.

I thought about changing my telephone number  -- one that I have had for over 12 years -- but was told that it wouldn't help.   Evidently computers now do the actually "phoning" by systematically calling the numbers in an area code.  Once the number is answered it is automatically sent to the "representative" to speak to us.

There has got to be something that someone somewhere in power can do about these calls.  The phone company can't seem to do anything, because they use so many different numbers.  You can't use the call block on your phone for the same reason.

I just got a message also from this number about 5 minutes ago from an R Smith.  I googled the number to see what the area code was because I thought It may be some friends of mine that I have not been in touch with lately.

After finding this information on the internet I was FURIOUS.  I am disabled and have not drove in 8 years and do not even own a car and was going to call and give them a piece of my mind.  When I called the number it asked if I wanted to be removed to press 1 or to enter another number enter 2.  I hit 1 and it said I was removed and hopefully it will be the end of it.  I am also going to google my states no call telemarketing list and add my number to the no call list.  I believe if they call after being placed on the no call list they can be FINED!!!

My company leases from Enterprise, but I don't know how they'd get my cell phone number. However....I just had the oil changed at Valvoline which does have my cell phone number.

We already have the power - most of us have caller ID. If you don't recognize the number or name don't pick up...period.

Thre same nonsense.
I just got a call fro R. Smith a few moments ago. The same Indian voice spoke to me. I asked how they know what type of car I have. They hung up. It seemed to be a fear reaction. I was getting too personal and could have a brain that could find something out about their scam. Like one comment said: I will use my caller ID next time, and if they call 1000 times a day I won't answer it and laugh at them. Let them call. Just don't answer it if you do not recognise the number. If enough people did that they would have to stop. At least the theory works well. Now lets put it to the test.
