I agree with you, Shorty. That's been the result of my research, too. Some of those fees go to the elections of unsavory characters, as well. My second call, from this number, came this evening at 8:34. That's what I consider too late to call.
If it's the FOP calling and seeking donations for thier organization, why are they hiding the name of their organization for? Looks suspicious to me, like they might not be who they claim to be if they're gonna hide the name of there organization while disturbing individuals on the weekends by calling and seeking donations.
Thanks for the info on who this is. I got fed up today with 2 different places calling repeatedly on a SUNDAY. One of them I was able to take care of by calling back and being placed on their internal DNC list, but as this one was not an 800 number, I wasn't sure what I'd get if I called back...so to the google machine I went. Charity or not, these types of calls are harassing and invasive, which is why I NEVER answer them. One great way to never get a penny from me is to continuously call every day of the week.
The probable reason caller ID does not say FOP is because this is a paid call center calling on behalf of the FOP. They undoubtedly have numerous charities they call for (and keep the lions share of the money) and do not want to program in the name of each client they call for. The FOP does not do it's own calling.
