They refused to tell me where they received my information. (The zip code they had on file was from over 5 years ago...) I have not recently applied for a loan or anything in that regards. I do not know where they got this old information, and why they refuse to communicate.
They hung up when I asked - " I did not apply for anything, your company is contacting me -"click.
This lady called me to my cellphone saying I had been selected for an $8,000 grant from the government. She asked if I wanted the money to be deposit to my bank account, to a visa credit card or western union. Since the beginning I had a bad feeling about all this, but I decided to play along and told her to send the money to Western Union. She then gave me a (202)345-9238 number told me to ask for Max Williams and provide him with my confirmation id number. In the end I didn't call the Max guy and decided to look more into this, in which I did and it turned out to be a scam. The good thing is they didn't ask me for any personal information other than my age and state i lived. I gave them the wrong state and age. The weird part is that they had my name correct. Good thing I didn't got through with it.
