Who called from 2403486593

Hey Jonas I'm from Germany too and also recieved a call from that number I think it's a fake number when you call back you need to pay a lot of money.

Got a call from +1 240 348 6593, with caller I'd MD, USA. I picked up and it was a pre recorded voice saying 'your verification code is 590669' and again another 4 or so times. I then hung up. Should I be worried- seems I am the only person here that picked up, I am in South Africa.

It is whatsapp calling when you change your phone number on your whatsapp account they either text a code or call with a code

Whatsapp is a malicious app that has numerous scams associated with it.  Your best bet would be to delete it from your phone.  If you have any doubts about what I just posted, simply search for whatsapp scams and see how many there are, way too many for me to post links here to them.
