Scammers. Received multiple calls today, with a recording saying that the IRS is filing a suit against me and to call this number. I called- they identified themselves as Internal Revenue Services, and asked for my personal info. Hahaha, nope. If you're reading this you probably googled the number, so you already know it's not the IRS. I didn't give my info so they hung up.
Definitely not the IRS. I work for the IRS and we never contact taxpayers by phone to tell them that we have a suit against them. It's just not the way we do business. You will get a letter, and you will have the opportunity to talk to someone. Plus, we don't go right into suing anyone. We'll garnish wages if we have to. But this is all beside the point. Please don't fall for this scam. Hang up and call the real IRS before you do anything. 1800-829-1040.
