Got a call from someone at this call-back number saying they where with the IRS Tax Crime Unit and that my wife had made an error in her tax filings and that she had not responded to the many mailings from the IRS. Stated the IRS was charging her with.. and they listed four different official sounding charges. I talked to three different 'officers'; John Mobin, Jack Williams, and Larry Wilkins. After a while, "Officer" Wilkins asked if we wished to go to court or settle out of court. I told him we opted for court. Conversation ended. I did not tell them that my wife has no tax filings that are solely in her name; therefore, the real IRS would also be looking for me. Additionally, we have not received any mailings from the IRS that we could ignored. All three of the 'officers' had noticeable accents, possibly from India or that area
Have received about three voicemails on my home phone, only the last voicemail left this number, 240 390 2901, vague threats about IRS problems and demanding that I call them within 48 hours, "Agent Wilkins". Definitely sound like scammers.
Just received same call. Said we were facing federal crime. All left on home answering machine. Indian accent. Total [***].

and 240-390-2901, Agent Wilkins, I think Indian accent was so strong I could barely understand him.
Pretty sure the US Government would not be outsourcing tax collection calls. Just another f'in scam our government can't wrap their hands around.
When I tried to call back got busy signal for agent Wilkins and a recorded message saying this number has declined to accept calls.
