Keep getting calls, but I refuse to answer. Caller ID says Census Bureau which it may be, but I never answer calls from anyone I don't know. You can get some good information and some help from the Rutherford Institute on the ACS survey. Rutherford is fighting the Census Bureau in court over the evasive nature of that survey.
I answered a call from this number too yesterday and again a claim from the census bureau (as I noticed the number was from MD). This person said "we have you at xxx address" I replied no. His response was I'm not sure you qualify since the address is not the same but let me get into another screen ...what is your correct address?" I him "no I don't need to give it to you". First I filled out my census with an official at my house 2010 therefore, the census I know has my information which is ONLY address, name, phone & how many in the house. These posts about personal information should never be answered .....but hey you all are on you own. When it comes to phone calls I don't want to talk to I don't...I just "click on.....click off" ...only because I don't want to hear it ringing while I don't answer it -my phone -my rule. -hope this helps.
I've gotten calls for the last few of weeks, mostly on Sundays. They've left 3 or 4 messages asking me to call back. Also called from 520-798-4152. I answered today and the lady told me they had previously mailed me a survey and asked if I still lived at that address. I told her I haven't lived at that address for several years. She said I was no longer eligible for the survey and they would have to research my address??? --but I could provide my new address to her. I said "no thanks' and she thanked me and hung up. I don't know if it's legit or not. I'm not sure how else the government can get information about how the average American lives, except to ask people for their personal information, but with the constant fear of identity theft you would think they could have come up with a better way.
Just received a call from the "census bureau" (yeah, sure). I told them I was on a no-call cell phone number. She assured me the census bureau has all my information (yeah, sure). I told her this was a robo call, a scam, and not to call me again.
I've been getting calls from 2404206029 the past few days as well. Today I answered and they said it was the Census Bureau. Then she said she had me listed at a certain address where I've never lived. I told her that wasn't my address and then she asked for my current address! I told her "NO" and she said that I'd probably getting a call back trying to see if I'm eligible for some "program."
This call came on my cell phone; I've had this number for over 15 years! I'm blocking this number; it'll be interesting to see if it is indeed spoofed as indicated upthread. Need to update my do not call info as well, I guess.
