Got a phone call from what sounded like a computer this morning telling me that IRS was trying to contact me and that I had to call such and such number in order to keep legal action from IRS from proceeding. This tactic seems to be to try to scare the bajeesus out of you into thinking it is THE IRS. I tried calling the number above back and got no answer. I waited a few minutes then called again and a man said "Hello" never identified himself and then asked to who he was speaking, I told him to tell me his name first which he stated was Charles. He then asked again who I was and I told him I was the woman that was going to report the company and number for fraud. Making it seem like you are the Internal Revenue Service is blatant fraud and I wonder how many people have actually fallen for this scam.
Seems someone is calling all McGuire's. I just received a similar call from this number claiming to be the IRS but when I asked for information regarding the nature of the call I was told it was for non filing tax court case to which I responded I had always filed and from whom was the complaint generated. He said his name was Santo though he had an Indian accent and hung up when I said I needed more info from him or to give me someone else to talk to. I read afterwords that the IRS does not call ever they respond by mail only.
