I am on the "worthless do not call list" but receive calls from this number on a daily basis. Sometimes at least, 2 times a day. Can't ID the number so I do not answer, but they still call anyways.
I just got a call (10:28am) from a live person asking me by name to donate to help veterans. I told him I don't donate to phone solicitors because of all the scammers and low pass through collectors that only pass a small percent to the actual charities.
He said it was terrible that some scammers make them all look bad and then tried again to get me to commit to a donation. I agreed with his opinion of scammers and still said "No".
I did forget to tell him to take my name and number off his calling list and I forgot to get the actual name of the "charity". Oh well, I'll try and do that the next time and I'm sure there will be a next time.
I was waiting for a call from my son and answered. Said they were collecting donations for the Children's Leukemia Fund of America. Email I got from them says it is Good Charity Fund.org. I am trying to research on line to see if this is valid or not and not having any luck. They wanted to put donation on credit card to cut down on administrative costs. I'm not that stupid - told them to mail me information. Still no luck on finding listing in the better business bureau but I keep looking. Strange enough - all of my phone numbers are on the Do Not Call list - so I don't know what good that really does!
