Received a call from 248-530-9021, caller id showed this as "LNP Megapopn". I did not answer, as I do not answer calls from numbers that I do not know. My answering machine picked up, and I guess the man was clueless that it was an answering machine, because it went through the recorded message, and he said, "Hello?" as if an actual person had answered and was just letting him hang on the line... Not only has this number been blocked (as with many other scam callers/telemarketers), but I looked up the manual for my digital phone through my provider, and they offer a "call trace" option. This may prove to be useful as the process goes through and for further assistance it states to contact your "local law enforcement". I think I may have discovered a tiny fraction of help for those who are as tired of these telemarketers/unsolicited callers/ scam artists as I am... and wishing I'd have found this feature a long, long time ago.
So, check with your phone provider to see if there is a "call trace" option available to you, since obviously the National Do Not call Registry is a joke (I get more calls after being registered than I did prior to registration, which stinks! ), and the FCC is obviously doing nothing about these callers, even though they have laws regarding and in some cases prohibiting such calls.
I think its a health insurance broker; moments after I looked online for heath insurance quote I got a call from 248-530-9201; Birmingham, MI. I search this phone# with another sight; someone esle indicated it was from a health insurance broker on someone elses inquiry.
