"ALERT" robo-called at 9 a.m. today and began babbling at our answering machine that "This is not a sales call! AARP and the U.S. Government have authorized..." I picked up and immediately hung up. Thanks loads, AARP, for selling our number to these scammers!
Caller ID displayed "ALERT" in big capital letters. Picking up the phone, it was a pre-recorded robocall offering senior citizens a $3000 saving certificate and offer to buy an alert bracelet, and "press 1 to continue"
Robocalls are ILLEGAL here in Minnesota, let alone trying to scare senior citizens into picking up the phone with ALERT displayed on the caller ID.
One of the most shameful robocall scams I can recall.
Called the number back and waited until I got an answer. There was no ringing. When I got an answer a recording said if you do not want us to call you press 1 to be removed from their list. I did that.
