The FCC has temporarily halted 7 minor unprofitable boiler rooms who will receive a slap on the wrist and be back at it within a few days. In the meantime the calls will continue since they are making money with what is called a CNAM revenue-sharing program through companies like http://www.telephonemanagement.net and http://www.CallerID4U.com

Our CNAM revenue-sharing program helps you make money every time a Caller ID request is made by a phone carrier. A high-traffic call center can lose hundreds to thousands of dollars a day to phone carriers by allowing them to charge for access to your own data.'
You can now see why the criminals keep calling even though they know you won't fall for their scam. They are making money even if you don't answer the phone. If someone does make the mistake of answering the phone and falling for their scam then it is just icing on the cake for them. These people are the lowest form of filth on this planet.

1. Hang Up. Do not press 1 or any other numbers to get off the list and NEVER call them back
2. Consider blocking the number or on a cell phone add it to a contact list and assign NO ring tone

4. Report it at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov
5. People should continually file complaints with their Attorney Generals office
6. Report any criminal activity to the FBI here: https://tips.fbi.gov

Came here to verify the identity- interesting caller ID since it was so generic..."PHONE" ...
No VM , but had been immediately preceded by a different generic robocaller that only left a long silent pause on the VM.
If someone has a legitimate business and asking survey questions, why can't they register their caller ID as the business name? I would venture it's because they are surveying info that helps a telemarketer or collection agency talk directly with a person. They use generic caller ids since blocked ID's can be screened by your phone plan...
They also like to use robocallers to probe for the live answerer, or the person who will call back.
Oh there goes the phone again and guess what ??- it's my favorite generic to let go to VM--- "generic City, State" in the area code that is consistent with my local area...
Received call from this number. When answered the message starts out: Do not hang up, this is not a sales call. There has been a burglary in your area. you may qualify for a free security system. If you are interested in these services press 1. If you would like to be placed on our no call list press 2. We are on the NO CALL list and not sure how we are getting so many of these types of calls. don't like being forced to listen to the "pitch" to get them to stop calling. I will report if we get more calls after requesting to be removed from calling list.
