Another INDIAN CALL CENTER SPAM CALL. I didn't allow it to go to the machine, and 'assumed' it was yet another "Buy Solar Panels over the phone from a Complete FOREIGN STRANGER with a Credit Card" PHISHING SCAM. If so, it will be our NINETY-SEVENTH call from that scam.
One other complaint on Mr. Number said it was the IRS scam call.
Also been getting a lot of 'Fix Your Computer Remotely' calls from NON-SERVICE numbers - all with INDIAN accents lately from numbers like 305-999-9920 and also 410-555-4487 and 202-555-0172, ALL, of course BOGUS NONSENSE NUMBERS.
Guess we're targeted as one of the first to get this 'new' number call since they haven't had any success with scamming us so far!
If anyone with an Indian accent cold-calls you and ( 1) threatens you or ( 2) offers you something,
you know it's a scam, So-- hang up immediately and block the number.
Nothing against Indians or [***]; that's just the way the world is right now.
Corollary
Never wire anyone money if you do not know them personally.
I received a call from the IRS Audit Division (253-292-3908) from the State of Washington. My tax filings from 2008-2013 were considered fraudulent and that I owed over $5000. Ben Stewart ( Indian with a heavy Indian accent) wanted to know my intentions and if If did not give an answer he would immediately call the Sheriff's department and issue a warrant for my arrest.... I started laughing and he got mad that I was laughing, and he told me this was serious and it was no laughing matter. I started to explained to him the proper process that The Department of Internal Revenue would take in such a matter, and then he told me it all changed. Since this was such a serious matter ( $5,000) they called me direct to "work something out" I suggested he call Al Sharpton, since he owes over $5 Million.... He got a little perturbed and our conversation ended.....
I just got this call too. He verified my address when he asked for my name. I'm only a working High school student... I didn't know the IRS sends a form to my home for delinquency of taxes because I done all the proper paperwork...
Man I dont know what to do, I just got f$%ked...
Total scam. Originates in either India or Pakistan. Block and ignore. DO NOT RETURN THE CALL!

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone. US mail only. IRS does not file lawsuits. Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter. But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes. IRS has no powers of arrest. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of money. IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone. IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments. Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement. All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals. All contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

Beware- I got a call saying I have $2600 in IRS due taxes and I needed to resolve it. Ridiculous call! My taxes are in order. After 5 minutes of talking to someone with very poor English I finally asked - 'What is my name and address on file?' I think the guy said 'F*** you' and hung up.
