It was an auto-dialed number generated by a machine. Here's the deal: while the companies that are pulling the scam may be offshore, the call centers that connect when "1" is pushed are in the US, manned by American employees. They know what they're doing. They know they're working for scam artists, yet they and the call center owners continue to act on behalf of the offshore criminals. In the middle of the recession, I might have felt bad for the call center workers, who may have really needed the money. But the recession's over and they're still working there, earning bonuses when they do con some elderly person into giving out their credit card info. Right now, all we can do is let 'em have it with some well-chosen expletives. (Make it quick and dirty - they hang up fast.) But until someone goes after the call centers, this is not going to stop. Received a call today, September 10th 2015 at 10:30 AM and CID displayed "Tacoma WA 253-328-8921" and as usual, no VM was left. Since no VM was left, the call wasn't important to begin with. Even if a VM is left, doesn't guarantee them a return phone call either. I don't answer my landline phone or my cell phone from numbers that I don't reconize, regardless of who is calling and if no VM is left, the call wasn't important to begin with
Scam number. Please, we must all get together and write to our congress representatives, as well as to our phone companies to stop this outrageous practice and prosecute those who invade our privacy. It is up to all of us to stop these con artist from disturbing our peace and do not respect the law.
