Total scam. Told me he was from the Windows service center and that my computer had problems. I kept him on the line as long as possible just to waste his time so he wouldn't be scamming anybody else with that time. I asked him for my IP address because anyone who supposedly had access to my computer would certainly know that. Nope. OF course he doesn't know that because he's just a scammer.
Then I asked him to explain exactly what was wrong with my computer and what version of Windows I was running. Lots of mumbo jumbo and of course he doesn't know what version of Windows I'm running.
These guys are so easy(and fun) to play with although I do feel sorry for the victims who get taken in by these scammers.
So I just received a phone call and the person on the other end stated that I had just downloaded some spyware unknowingly, to my home PC, and that he could fix the issue. He stated that he was contracting out of Microsoft(although the phone call sounded like it was from overseas and the accent sounded a lot like an Indian accent, I guess it could have been Microsoft, but I highly doubt it)). He stated that he could show me the infected files if I logged onto my computer and let him have access to my PC.
Well my instant replies were:
1: What makes you think I own a computer. – He was speechless after this comment
2: If I did own a computer, what makes you think I would allow someone I don’t know to have access to it – Once again he was speechless.
I then immediately told him to take me off his calling list!
The offending name on the caller ID was “Trikon” with a local number of 253-363-9006
Just got the call from 253-363-9006. So they tell me my computer is infected.I say huh? I did have to reboot today. It got infected from something. I didn't reply. Time to tighten up my email address. Did not tell them anything. Scammers Scammers.Hung up.
