They claim to be IRS and said if i didnt return the call they would have an attorney call me.
I never received any info from IRS prior and without giving them my last name, he could not tell me why they called. Seemed kinda fishy to me. I figure if i was having any issue with the IRS i would have received some letters first.
Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.
Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.
Got two calls from number 253-617-3967, yesterday and today. Didn't answer, then voice mail was a man with heavy Irish accent calling himself Officer Lynch. He said this was an urgent, time-sensitive matter, and if we didn't return his call he "wishes us good luck as things badly unfold for us". There was no mention of the IRS or any company or government body he was calling from. This is such a disturbing nuisance!
7/1/14 @ 12:00 pm...This is the 3rd call. The first on Thanksgiving Day from "Dan Brown" from the IRS, obvious scam, I called him on it, he swore at me and hung up. The second from IRS stating to call back number and get a lawyer or I'd be in big trouble. The 3rd came this morning from "Officer Kelovich",stating the hotline number to his division is 253-617-3967. The issue I have is extremely time sensitive, now if you don't return the call and I don't hear from your attorney either...then the only thing is I can wish you good luck as the situation unfolds on you". This is an obvious scam. Next time I will have a whistle ready to blow into his ear. These people are obnoxious, they repeatedly call again and again. Why can't they be caught and prosecuted? I just hope nobody is stupid enough to fall for their tactics, costing them financially!
