got the same call ,but they say they were Secure checks. They wanted my ss# and pay off a bad check. We had none out there., because we pay cash. They hung up. They did not know my name. AND i DID NOT GIVE IT TO THEM .
On the phone right NOW with a guy that has put me on hold after asking him to provide me verification of who this firm is. I agreed to make a payment, only if he sends me a letter or something. He sent a letter to an old email address that I gave him and the letter looks like he just typed it up while I was on hold....lol I tried looking up the address P.O. Box 792 Gorman, TX 76433 The header looks like my 3year old created it... it says Credit First with 'shaking hands' then financial recovery specialists and the number 254-212-5369 under it. I asked him if there is a website..lol he said NO...lol what the heck kind of legit company doesn't have a website...godaddy.com will create you a website bro...! Here's the kicker. The only thing that matches anything about their contact information is this number and when I googled it...I was lead here THANK GOD!!! So, I told him that I was not comfortable giving him my credit information over the phone and I would like to call the "original lender" for confirmation, he started yelling at me. Told me that he was offended that I think he would scam someone, people pay thousands of dollars (poor souls)!! I asked him why is he taking it so personal?...so after calming him down (I do this for a living) he put me on a 10minute hold again (3rd time) and said that I can paid the amount in full at any Bank of America. Give them the following account number and call him back with the receipt number when I get it...??/really!
Okay people, here is the account number: 48349217808. I'm so exited to go to my bank to have someone look up this number that is probably in Barbados somewhere....
I just received the pre-recorded message, exact same wording as others have reported. There's no logical reason to believe this is real. I don't write checks, so there's no way I've had a bad check in the last 5 years. This must be a scam.
Just got a phone call from the same type as stated below. Female stating they are going to send me a certified letter regarding a claim against me....number received the call from registers in Los Angeles, CA but the number they tell you to call as I searched for here is in TX......Seriously? Beware of the SCAMMERS!
