I had the same issue. Seems like it's already been answered but here's the scoop
They bill you 9.99 a month for premium text messaging
You have to text STOP to make it go away
You can call 1800 416 6129 to speak to an operator about it.
Here's the part about how to get your $ back
Their website says
"You must be the owner of this device or have permission from the owner. Call for your money back within first 30 days of service if you are not satisfied. By signing up for this service and entering your personal PIN Code delivered to the cell phone number supplied by you on this website, you acknowledge that you are agreeing to the full Terms of Use."
I called and bitched the operator out. I'm the owner of the phone and the person that signed up for the messaging was not. If your kid (under 18) signed up for it the contract is doubly void because a minor can't enter into a contract.
They will try to site their terms and conditions
"3.2. The Company shall be entitled to rely on the assumption that the person or entity responsible for the wireless account for mobile handset to which content is downloaded is responsible for all use of the Service through that wireless account. The Company will not issue refunds to persons or entities claiming that they did not authorize the use of their wireless account to receive a Download or that they did not authorize the incurring of any cost or expense in connection with any such Download."
Stick to your guns! If it's been less than 30 days their site says
"Within the first thirty days of Service, if you are not completely satisfied for any reason, you may cancel service and request a full refund of all charges, by calling 1800 235 7105"
In my case it had been roughly 90 days. I had been working with my carrier to get the charges to stop and finally an operator gave me the info. to start yelling at the third party rather than my carrier.
I managed to get $19.98 back of the $29.97.
For me it was more about the principal than the money and I want to make sure everybody calls, fights, and gets their money back.
I also encourage a complaint to the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org/us/)
The company is
Mobile Messenger (they have 3 listings with the BBB.) I used the one located at
6601 Center Drive West Suite 700
Los Angeles, CA 90045
this is like the 2nd or 3rd time I have received a text from this number this time they told me "A snowflake can take up to a hour to fall from the cloud to the surface of the Earth"
I did a quiz not to long ago and since then they have sent me texts. I think they are charging my phone bill $9.99 a month too. and I can't figure out how to make them stop.
