It's legit. Once the body shop pulled the bumper off our car last Friday, they discovered the frame rails were split in 3 places and buckled in a 4th place which ended up totaling a vehicle that we and our insurance company thought was going to be repairable. I inspected the damage (again) yesterday and sure enough there was frame damage. After talking to our insurance company yesterday, I agreed to take the actual cash value offer, and mail to title to them today so they could make immediate arrangements for a salvage company to pick up the car. Immediately following that phone call, I called the body shop and verbally released the car over the phone. This morning the salvage company tried to pick the car up and was erroneously told that the car had not been released, at which point I was called from number 262-226-2038 w/ caller ID of Waukesha WI. At first, I thought it was a telemarketer, but they had the correct name of the body shop, the correct name of the insurance company, the correct VIN # for the car, and they were able to place a 3-way call to the body shop so I could (again) verbally release the vehicle.
The phone calls we get w/ caller IDs listed as towns have always been telemarketer scams until now. This is the first time I've gotten one that was actually legit.
Same story here. They call every day to arrange pickup of my car which was classified as a total loss. I think the company is Action Auto Auction or something like that. They keep leaving me messages.
