Have received several calls today from "Y CONFIRM ORDERS". The telephone number on my caller ID is 1-269-477-2157. I have received these calls before but never answered them. Out of curiosity I called the number back and the message was that they were calling me to confirm my order but not to worry if I missed their call they would send the order anyway. Haven't ordered anything recently so I figured it was a mistake. When they called back again I answered the call. A very loud voice asked for me by name and proceeded to tell me that because of a "recent purchase" I had made I was going to receive a VISA card for $125 in gas rewards. He began to ask me questions that made me believe he was phishing for information. I told him that I was not comfortable with any of this and that I was going to report this call as a scam and then hung up the phone. I believe this to be a scam and by the questions the caller was asking identity theft would have been the outcome.
Got the call on 1-21-2011 at 4:28pm, they said I recently made a purchase using my Mastercard and that I had won free gas coupons, he asked if I still lived in, and he stated my hometown, said they wanted to send me these other coupons on stuff that I usually buy anyhow from different stores and he mentioned acouple. When I asked him how he got my number, he said from a partner company. I said no thank you and take me off your list and hung-up.
I just had a similar experience with the folks. When I told them that is wasn't interested in the free gas they said just check it out and immediately hung up on me before I could insist that they don't send me anything.
Scammers/telemarketers/a-holes, all the same thing, they keep calling on this and the number ending in ...55 - I guess it's time to get a call blocking app for my Android.
I received multiple calls from 269-477-2157, and it was from INVESCO about gas rebate coupons. Apparently INVESCO is only one name of many used for this scam. The telemarketer on the other end hit me with a loud, rapid-fire sales pitch where I couldn't get a word in edgewise. He kept trying to get me to confirm my name, address and CC number etc. I kept trying to ask questions and he kept lambasting me with an aggressive sales pitch. So I raised my voice and yelled back into the phone: I DO NOT WANT YOUR PRODUCT OR SERVICES! I DO NOT AUTHORIZE ANY CHARGES ON MY CARD! TAKE ME OFF YOUR CALLING LIST IMMEDIATELY! He hung up on me as I was yelling back into the phone during his "wall of words" sales pitch. If these guys manage to charge your account call your CC company and have the charges reversed. Then have them change your account number and they will issue you a new card for free within a few days.
Another auto dialer I suppose. Mote than 4 calls just today. It call the mobile phone: I hit ignore-as I do not know the area code or number and no message is left. If they want to talk to me bad enough they will / should leave a message.
