I agree with Scott above, The phone co. that we lease the line should already be involved , they know where these calls are generating from, years ago messing around on the phone like this would land you in trouble, today I believe there is money
to be made at the consumers expense . There is know reason for anyone to be bothered at home with this junk. I bet if a few thousand people turned in their phone , it might force something to be done, But the phone is a life line for some, these bogus calls disrupt peoples lives, legitimate biusnesses loose money every year because people don't want to answer their phone, Don't answer the phone if you don't know the number. Educate older people whats going on.
why is it so hard to find out who these annoying people are. Gov't agencies need to grow a pair and do a better job of helping us with (procedures) to block these calls as well as ID who they are.
The calls are coming from foreign scammers, most likely India or Pakistan, as has been widely reported here. Moreover, they use VOIP to hide their true location and the actual number they're calling from.
As if that's not bad enough, even if the Government agencies you think are doing a terrible job could find these people they would have no jurisdiction in those foreign countries. Imagine the Indian government coming here to arrest someone.
But there are myriad ways to block the calls, and you could find that out by searching for CALL BLOCKER.
