Do not respond, and do not call them back. The US Government, or any agency working for the government never works this way. They will always contact you via snail mail first. If you want to have some fun, you can call them back and recite limericks, or read "Moby Dick" to the scammer.
This telemarketer identified themselves as Feddral officers and that I had a summons to stand before a grand jury, presumably in Bowling Green, Kentucky where it originated (I live on the west coast). They called me a “Feddral criminal” when my worst lifetime violation was a speeding ticket! My iPhone 7 transcribed their voicemail message as follows:
“___ ______ ___ to grand jury for a federal criminal _______ this is the final attempt to reach you to resolve this immediately and to speak to a federal agent call us back on area code 270-803-0800 I repeat area code 270-803-0800 thank you…”
The underscores are where the software failed to translate the message. It's the latest iOS feature for the new iPhone.
Impersonating a Federal agent is a felony punishable by decade in prison.
“No second attempt to avoid initial appearance before a magistrate judge or a grand jury for a federal criminal offense this is the final attempt to reach you to resolve this immediately and to speak to a federal agent call us back on area code 270-803-0800 I repeat area code 270-803-0800 thank you…”
SCAM!!! They keep calling me. This is the 4th time today. They did the same yesterday. I have never been to Kentucky. Anyway it just some loser who wants to scam and take your money. You should block the caller.
"You have committed a federal offense. Call back to speak to a federal agent. This is our last attempt to reach you." Note: They called 2 times in 2 1/2 hrs.
Left voice mail stating "An intentional second attempt to avoid initial appearance before a magistrate judge or grand jury for a federal criminal offense. This is a final attempt to reach you to resolve this issue immediately and to speak to a federal agent call us back on area code 270-803-0800. I repeat area code 270-803-0800. Thank you." I received a second message from the same number 2.5 hours later stating "are some serious charges has been pressed against you so before anything goes wrong or before we track down your case file to your local police department in order ___ on these charges I want you to call us back as soon as possible. My department call back is 270-803-0800..." Both messages were recordings. I've received a similar message before about 2 months ago. I'd be concerned if I actually committed a crime but I agree with the other posts, just someone trying to take your hard earned money! Scam!
