I got a call on VM from 281you 241 6239 saying to call this number 1 855 245 1259 and the name Legal Check Recovery. The number (855 245 1259) I got no answer so I called the 281 241 6239 and the man answered Processing and I told him file number and said that it was red flagged and put me on line with attorney Tim Hoffman saying to turn myself in or at 3pmthe the police would be at my door. I asked what about and he says payday loans I got from 2007 and 2008 and it's felony arrest for me, I tried telling him I'm in debt consolidation program and he said they not going to sit in kail for me, I tried to talk agot very nasty and rude after I wouldn't tell him where I was and said this how you want to play it then go to jail and I have a 35,000 bond and he would tell them I refused to cooperate. I went to police station to see and the officee told me no I dont have warrants and then he talked to the investigator and she says she has gotten calls like this from ppl saying the same thing. I was in tears and still very shaken and scared by this, could anyone respond back to me, I would greatly appreciate it.
Yes - you got a call from - SCAMMERS! Don't let them scare you into paying a bogus debt! Besides being illegal to threaten people this way (per the FDCPA regulations), debt is civil, NOT criminal, so you're not going to be arrested, charged and thrown in jail!
Report the calls to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General. Next time the scammers call, tell them that on the advice of your attorney (even if you don't have one), you're recording all calls they make to you for multiple violations of the FDCPA.
Also tell them that since they refuse to send the legally required debt validation letter proving you owe this debt to them, you are legally obliged to pay them NOTHING (also per the FDCPA regulations).

I also asked them for paperwork to be sent to the address they had for me and I also got the excuse O sorry we filed on you at noon today. So your file is not here in our office anymore. I said O I figured that much cause you have and have had any paperwork . I have not got another call since its been 2 weeks now.
I got a call from them too today!! First it was a woman trying to verify my address and did I receive the numerous mailed citations and notices? I said no to both...wrong address and didn't get any mail...so she wanted to send me to talk to Timothy Hoffman from the District Attorney's office. There was hold music then a loud voiced guy answers saying can I help you? I said....I don't think so...he got kinda mad and said his name and that he had a whole list of Pay Day loans that I did fraudulently and that I would be served in 1 hour with an arrest warrant. He tried to verify my birthdate...I said I don't know who I'm talking to so not gonna verify anything. He really got mad then and was yelling asking Yes or No....is this your DOB!!!??. I just hung up on him bc my gut was telling me this is maybe the worst debt Collector that ever was! They tried to call back with the number showing unknown. I didn't pick up. Then I Googled his name and saw quite a bit about this guy. I'm sooooo glad I didn't tell him anything and none of you should either. He's a rude [***] heartless person who just tries to take your money.
