Person identifies herself as Stacy Winters with a law firm, well known in the Houston Area. Wants info on a relative and says if I don't give her the info, she will serve civil suit papers on me.
Even after telling her repeatedly that the person does not live with me, she gets very beligerant and foul mouthed. I have asked her to quit calling, she continues to do so.
I have called the law firm and reported to them that she is using their name to harrass me.

Send them a cease & desist via certified or return receipt US mail. If it continues, contact your state AG and file a complaint. Your under no obligation to tell them anything. You might want to consider following the steps below and go after them for harassment also.

***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.
Some Tips:
*Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time,date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

first i get calls to my job from these people saying i owe a company money and i if i dont pay i would be going to court fro check fraud and when they felt like i didnt responsed in the correct way they askt to speak with mu boss.then i get another call from a diffrent number states the samething i informed them i was at work and it didnt make a diffrent so i reported them to the bbb and they lied on there respaonse now i am getting a call from anotgher numbder saying they are taking me to court
