I returned home a few minutes ago and my family members were in a panic saying I was about to be arrested for criminal charges. My aunt, who lives over 600 miles away had a vm on her phone from Ross and Peterson saying I had 24 hours to respond before charges were filed. I have no idea how they tracked down an aunt and gave all of MY information to someone other than me. I filed Ch 7 bankruptcy last year and any creditors I had on my credit report are gone. I have no idea what company they are representing but I wish it would stop.
Please do report them to the FTC, FBI and your state's Attorney General - you were right not to entertain your caller's nonsense!

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

Thanks for the info. I wish a lot more people would look them up and see all of the info they can get no them, before hey get scared and pay them. Some older people would get scared. Me I just laugh at these calls.
I am a collection agency owner. I looked up this number because they were contacting my accounts. Long story short, the guy who sold me the accounts also sold them to these people. I'm in now way crediting this company but you guys should also try to figure out who they bought the accounts from. There was no way for me to know that someone else had the file also.
Received a call from this place. They left a voicemail threatening action with a state attorneys office. Did not leave any additional information. I have no idea who tey are or why they chose me to harass.
