I went ahead and answered and got a slick sounding guy on the line trying to convince me to send money to a fund for "police officers injured in the line of duty and their families". He said he was calling from the "Police Officers Funds." I am from Houston TX and we recently lost a Harris County Sheriff and we raised quite a bit of money for Deputy Goforth's family. I certainly have no problem donating to that very worthy cause, but we were warned by all three network affiliates that these cheesy guys were gonna show up and sure 'nuff...here they are. I have several LEO's in my immediate family & across the board, my nephews requested we not send money to people cold-calling and requesting funds EXCEPT the 100 Club. My nephews said that most of the "funds" that are raised line the pockets of the callers, with no more than 5% of the money they get going to the families & only that 5% to keep them from being prosecuted for fraud. Please don't give money to these guys. If you want t donate to that type of fund, call the BBB or the local police officers union(s) & ask them for contact info for legitimate fund raisers.
I can almost gaurentee this is some BIG FAT lonely, illegal drug user that has nothing better to do.So FAT they cant leave home.Dialing is the only excercise they get. LOL :)
