Got family throughout Texas, so I answered the call. It was an automated message saying the credit card I had with them was compromised and that I needed to call them ASAP to get it straightened out. I knew it was a scam when the message didn't even say which company/card name. Hell, they didn't even know my name.
I answered and pressed 6 to speak to a representative. The recording said the call was to lower the interest rate on my credit card. The man answered with a foreign accent and said that my interest rate is more than 9% and wanted to if I could estimate my balance. I asked him what company he was with, what the call was really for, etc. He only said they issued "both" of my cards and that sharing my balance would prove my identity, which he had already told me he believed to be in excess of $3K (I brought it down below $1K in February). At this point I would not answer any questions without a solid answer to mine and after less than 2 minutes on the line, he hung up on me abruptly. I attempted to call back twice and got a dial tone the first, and a "Could not be completed as dialed" recording the second attempt.
